Dear Dr. Schatzky:I’m a 30-year-old male who recently stopped using methylphenidate for an eating disorder. I started taking stimulants during the manic phase of my life, and I still get the urge to binge- eating when I feel like I’m doing something wrong. I have noticed that I tend to binge eat more often. My thoughts are racing, but I’m not tempted to do so. I’m also not eating a good diet, and I don’t feel hungry as much. I am in the middle of a cycle of eating a large meal at a restaurant, and I’m eating dinner in a restaurant for the first time. In addition to being a binge eater, I also have a lot of physical activity. I’m not in a social setting, but I don’t do much exercise.

I’m a 45-year-old male who was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). My doctor prescribed stimulants to help me focus. I began taking Strattera at the age of 40. The first three weeks, I noticed that I didn’t binge eat much, but that I was still eating a lot, so I stopped taking it. I was also not able to eat well, and I started eating more frequently than usual. I’m now feeling really anxious. The next four weeks are a lot of eating. I’m eating three times a day.
